Taking the IELTS in Norway

Norway is a Nordic country with very few physical test seats, and the IELTS turns up here for the same reason it does everywhere else: it stands between a candidate and university admission and immigration, particularly for the UK, Australia and Canada.

How the IELTS is run in Norway

The IELTS is about two hours and forty-five minutes of Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, and the version we handle is IELTS Online, watched by remote invigilators. Because it runs on your own machine rather than in a hall, where you are sitting matters only for scheduling.

That matters more in Norway than in most places, since physical seats here are limited and a rescheduled booking can cost weeks. The at-home format sidesteps the queue entirely.

Registration still needs the same passport used at registration, so the details on your booking have to match the documents you hold.

What IELTS score to aim for

The IELTS is scored from 0 to 9. Most of our Norway clients are applying to institutions like the University of Oslo and BI Norwegian Business School for graduate admissions, where anything at or above 7 is competitive, and that is the range we work to.
