🚨 McKinsey Solve's New 95-Minute Format: the Sustainable Futures Lab “Team-Management” Version (2026)

McKinsey has quietly started sending a ~95-minute invitation that includes a redesigned Sustainable Futures Lab (SFL) — a ~30-minute “team-management” simulation — instead of the older ~20-minute SFL. It is piloting side by side with the 85-minute version (candidates were still getting 85-minute invitations a month after the first 95-minute ones), which is exactly how McKinsey rolls out Solve changes: on live applicants.
How to tell which version you will sit
Your invitation’s stated length is the giveaway. The three lengths map like this:

All versions still open with Red Rock Study (~35 min, data/ecosystem analysis) and Sea Wolf Game (~30 min, defend-the-pod strategy). What changed is the third game.
What the new 30-minute Sustainable Futures Lab tests
The old SFL was a short behavioral-judgment module. The new team-management version is built around running a small research team across a multi-day simulation — prioritising, delegating and adjusting as new information lands, rather than answering a chain of standalone questions. It rewards clean decision-making under time pressure, and it punishes second-guessing.
