## Full story

Last year, a customer approached us for GMAT services. After we said that we don't offer escrow services on Taobao, they stopped talking to us. It was evident they didn't want to risk paying the deposit upfront.

A few months later, they got back in touch, saying that they had been banned from taking the GMAT for cheating.

Upon further inquiry, we learned that they had resorted to a Taobao vendor for assistance in cheating on their online GMAT exam and got caught. The customer described the Taobao vendor as a "dumbfuck who used some pinhole camera" to cheat on the GMAT.

<h2>The Failed GRE Cheating Attempt Involving Using Phones</h2>

This customer revealed that they previously failed the GRE due to hiring an unprofessional proxy test-taking service. This service used an outdated cheating method on the GRE, transmitting questions through WhatsApp on a mobile phone, where the proxy test taker would solve the problems in real-time and send back the answers.

The customer needed to prepare two mobile phones: one to show to the proctor for inspection and the other secretly hidden on the desk. The agency added both the client and the proxy test taker to the same WhatsApp group chat and started a video call.

The customer positioned the hidden phone under their shoulder, in a blind spot above the computer screen where the camera couldn&#39;t capture, to photograph the questions for the proxy test taker to see, who then sent the answers in the group chat. The video window was also minimized to allow the client to view the chat content. However, unfortunately, during the GRE exam, the proctor suddenly asked to see the desktop, causing the client to hastily hide the phone under a mattress and pick up the computer camera for inspection.

Due to the inability to check the answers on the phone for the remaining exam time, the client had no choice but to cancel their GRE score.🥲

<h2>Cheating on online tests with phones is doable but risky</h2>

Using a phone to take photos and communicate during online tests is a very primitive cheating method. It can still work if the candidate is well-trained, but it carries high risks:

	<li>Acting weird or nervously with one&#39;s eyes can make the proctor suspicious.</li>

Since the GRE and GMAT are managed by different testing organizations and their records are not interconnected, a failure in GRE cheating won&#39;t affect the GMAT test, and vice versa.
